As a prominent leader in the healthcare landscape, Sankalpa Hospitals is renowned for its cutting-edge Department of Neonatology, housing state-of-the-art Newborn Intensive Care Units (NICU) dedicated to the well-being of neonatal infants facing health challenges or born prematurely.

With advancements in neonatal care and the modern facilities available within our NICU, even infants born prematurely as early as 24 weeks of gestation now have significantly improved survival rates. A testament to this progress, in December 2018, a baby born at a mere 245 grams and 23 weeks and 3 days of gestation not only survived but thrived. After five months of meticulous care in our NICU, the baby was discharged from the hospital, poised to lead a healthy life.

However, some newborns may face additional hurdles due to underdeveloped bodily systems, such as insufficient lung function or ineffective heart circulation. To address these challenges, our NICU is equipped with advanced medical apparatus that enables our skilled medical team to compensate for such developmental delays or undetected congenital defects, significantly enhancing the chances of survival for these vulnerable infants.

The NICU at Sankalpa Hospitals is adept at diagnosing and treating a range of illnesses commonly encountered in newborns, including but not limited to:

  • Apnea
  • Anemia
  • Bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD)
  • Bradycardia
  • Hydrocephalus
  • Neonatal sepsis
  • Jaundice
  • Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH)
  • Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA)
  • Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC)
  • Infant respiratory distress syndrome (RDS)
  • Periventricular leukomalacia (PVL)
  • Transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN)
  • Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP)

At Sankalpa Hospitals, we are committed to providing the highest level of care and support to ensure the healthy development and well-being of every newborn entrusted to our care.
